Kiet's Epilepsy Story
Kiet has epilepsy. He was originally treated with high dosage medications to control his seizures. However, various medications did little to control the problem. Sometimes Kiet had as many as 100 small episodes per day. The disease affected every aspect of his life, including school, athletics and social activities. Kiet and his mother were referred to Dr. Kurtis Auguste, MD, a pediatric neurosurgeon who specializes in epilepsy. It was determined that Kiet was a good candidate for this very specialized surgical procedure. Dr. Auguste performed a two staged operation at Children’s Hospital & Research Center Oakland. The procedure changed Kiet’s life.
